GRACE Needs Car Help

One of the most crucial essentials to financial security is reliable transportation.  For many individuals, lack of transportation is the first and often final straw in crises that cause job insecurity, housing loss, hunger, and increasing difficulty. Currently three women who are GRACE Transitional Housing participants entered into our program without means of transportation.  One of the three was in an accident that not only totaled her car, but also took away her “home” and her income as she lived and worked as a transportation app driver from her car. This is just one example of the many transportation crises we see.  Not to mention the endless problems that a one-car family face who experience costly repairs, the repercussions of a “lemon,” or simply the troubles brought about as a car dies before the ability to purchase another is possible.  Some families, such as single mothers or fathers,

Charles Schwab Volunteer Week

Whether it’s helping their clients or supporting local nonprofits, Charles Schwab employees have always been committed to service.  What began over a decade ago as an annual day of service, Schwab Volunteer Week has evolved into a dedicated week of volunteerism across the firm. As part of celebrating Schwab’s culture of service, thousands of Schwab employees and executives (aka “Schwabbies”) took part in the company’s 16th annual week-long volunteer event nationwide. Employees of Charles Schwab showed up ready to work hard as they volunteered at GRACE this week, contributing in groups at Donation Station, The Pantry and GRACEful Buys. This example of corporate social responsibility shows what a difference companies can make through volunteerism and philanthropy.  It provides an opportunity for team building activities with a greater purpose and a true impact in communities where employees live and work. In honor of Schwab Volunteer Week, the Charles Schwab Foundation offered

Lori Stevens Named “Rookie of the Year” by CWC

This past Thursday, May 16 at Colleyville Center, Colleyville Womens Club hosted its annual Caring with Commitment Luncheon that celebrates their year filled with making friends, raising charitable funds, attracting new supporters and determining the members’ philanthropic priorities.  Members, supporters, youth and representatives of supported charities gather to receive funds and recognition for accomplishments — truly a celebration of CWC’s mission and all that help achieve its accomplishment. Each year, CWC members dedicate their time and resources to plan and execute two major events – the Holiday Home Tour and the Lunch with the Girlz Fashion Show and Benefit.  Fundraising dollars from these events, combined with other revenue opportunities, enable CWC to award scholarships and grants to outstanding youths, charities and community projects.  In turn, these deserving recipients continue to transform not only their own lives, but the lives of countless others in Northeast Tarrant County.     CWC

Transitional Housing Client is Home at Last

By the time a client is accepted as a GRACE Transitional Housing Program participant, the woman or family is usually at their most vulnerable.  Often the unseen emotional wounds are raw due to prolonged domestic abuse, sudden career loss or other wearisome circumstances that brought them to our doors. Our most recent client is working to overcome traumas she experienced that have affected her in ways she could have never expected.  After being faced with a devastating event, she was required to vacate her home.  Faced without options, Jennifer began working and living out of her car, making money as a transportation app driver.  She kept her few possessions bundled and bungeed in her trunk, and pulled out her sleeping bag when it was bedtime.  Jennifer was able to get by in this exhausting manner until her car was totaled, leaving her literally with nothing. After her wreck, Jennifer

FÜDTRUKY: RESCHEDULED

DFW received 1.43 inches of rain in the early morning hours before the much anticipated FÜDTRUKY event was scheduled to begin. Unfortunately that flooded out the Marq event space and made it too dangerous for any electrical equipment that needed to be used. Nicole and Mike Tesoriero were devastated to postpone the event, but are so thankful that they have a new day picked! The event will now be held on Sunday June, 23 at the Marq in Southlake! They will have cold brews from Shannon Brewery and food trucks from Holy Frijole, Big Kat Burgers, Jack’s Chowhound, Just Encased, Aunt Shirley’s Food Truck, Chiave’s Italian Street, and Pokey O’s! Kids are welcome, dogs are welcome, and FUN is welcome at this family event.   Click here to volunteer at Fudtruky!

GRACE Grocery Giveaway returning in Summer 2019!

Each Friday during the summer, 10-20 volunteers unload a truck filled with produce and kitchen staples to be given to families in neighborhoods where residents are most vulnerable to food insecurity. GRACE is looking for a handful of volunteers each week to help pass out this fresh produce to our families in the area. We are also trying to add some shifts this year for those individuals who want to load up groceries in their personal trucks and deliver to sites around Grapevine. We are hoping to have three separate volunteer sites each Friday. If you would like to sign-up for any of these shifts, please click this link to see our sign-up genius.   For any questions about GRACE Grocery Giveaway, please email Stacy Pacholick at spacholick@gracegrapevine.org, or for questions about volunteering please email Sarah Armand at volunteer@gracegrapevine.org.

Join our Gala Committee

The Gala is the single largest fundraising event for GRACE and revenues from the event are used to fund the many programs and services offered to GRACE clients throughout the year. We have a fierce and dedicated Gala committee that helps solicit funding and we are in need of volunteers to join this amazing group! Volunteer at GRACE this Summer!

Lets take a nice trip back to our childhoods. Do you remember the days when school let out for summer and you didn’t have to wake up at the crack of dawn? You stayed up late, and slept in late, and watched whatever you wanted on TV before maybe hopping in a pool with a friend. Maybe you had breakfast around lunchtime, and ate lunch around dinner time. And you did whatever you wanted because NO SCHOOL for 2 1/2 glorious months! We wish things were that way around GRACE. But the truth is, the summer season doesn’t slow down. We have so many programs that continue despite the heat! We encourage you to attend one of our Volunteer Orientations throughout the summer and listen to what programs you or your child can help with. Some of the events that are happening throughout the summer: GRACE Grocery Giveaway- every Friday
