GRACE Calls and Our Generous GRACE Family Answers!

We are humbled to have seen the generous response to our Red Letter Alert regarding our Food Pantry supplies emergency.  We would like to take this time to thank each and everyone who has taken action, donated, helped spread our message and prayed! No less than five minutes after our Red Letter went out last Friday, we had GRACE Family Members creating fundraiser events online; businesses, organizations and individuals sharing, messaging, retweeting and liking our posts; people who went immediately out of their way to purchase items from our needs list, showing up as soon as possible with the goods; caring supporters who clicked that “donate now” link to give monetary gifts and more. Each and every food item and dollar contributed is greatly needed and used effectively and efficiently to help the many families who come to GRACE for help.  Each and every day is one of the 365

Red Letter Alert: Food Pantry Emergency

It was Memorial Day, a day that many people gather to honor the purpose of the holiday.  Many of us gather to enjoy togetherness, time away from work, and cookouts that mark the beginning of summer.  One thing is certain, whenever folks are grilling there’s bound to be lots of food. I stopped into my office at GRACE for a bit that evening.  Little did I know God had loftier things in store for me than what I intended as just a quick stop by the office.  On my way out, I noticed someone at our Take One Leave One Pantry.  The Take One Leave One Pantry is located in front of our Food Pantry at GRACE Main Campus.  Anyone is able to drop by at any time to either give or take nonperishable food items. This particular evening, it was a young boy, about 8 years old, who sought

Our Clothing Room Needs Back-To-School Supplies

Kids may still enjoy long, lazy days poolside or at summer camp, but GRACE Clothing Room Coordinator, Dina Pesina, is busy gearing up the GRACE Clothing Room for Back-to-School clothing needs. Currently, The Clothing Room urgently needs underwear for boys sizes 4, 6/8, 10/12 & 14/16; girls sizes 12, 14 & 16; girls teen sizes and womens size 5. We always are in great need of children’s shoes (preferably new) in all sizes.  Because kids outgrow shoes quickly, Dina always needs to keep a number of extra shoes in stock.  Her team of volunteers spends many hours polishing and cleaning gently worn shoes so that they will shine in time for school.  Socks are another much-needed item on our list as well. Last year, Dina estimates that GRACE served over 800 “little kids” (up to 14 years of age), over 150 teenage girls and over 100 teenage boys heading back for

Hungry For Help

The GRACE Family is working hard this summer to address one of the most critical needs in our community – hunger – and we need your help!  June is designated to acknowledge this closed-curtain issue.  A family who lacks consistent access to enough food for all household members or cuts back on groceries to pay rent, utilities, medicine, etc. is at risk for food insecurity.  Here are some quick facts to help your family build awareness of the needs, along with tangible ways to address hunger in your community. GRACE Grocery Giveaway is a Mobile Food Pantry that delivers kitchen staples to vulnerable neighborhoods every Friday in the summer.  On average, 12,000 bags of groceries are given to families each year.  Volunteers are needed to set up the marketplace for family members to collect the food.  Sign-up here for remaining shifts! Feed Our Kids is perhaps the most-widely known initiative,
