Repurpose with a Purpose

From his garage workshop, William Snow creates amazing settings from repurposed materials. William Snow takes everyday items and turns them into amazing creations. His latest artwork was repurposed from GRACEful Buys. William certainly knows how to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary. Instead of canvas or clay for his artwork, William seeks unique pieces of furniture to repurpose with added color, and other creative ways to turn a common piece into an uncommonly awesome piece of art. At GRACEful Buys, William found just the right piece of furniture, a swivel chair, and a tabletop to combine with a cast iron base. Add a mid-century laboratory stand, and the setting takes on a dramatic and unique look.. Repurposing has quickly become a favorite of do-it-yourselfers who like to recycle and add a touch of whimsy to their homes. It’s a thrifty and fun way to be green. Repurposing is nearly unlimited,

GRACE American Wheat Beer Making Us Hoppy!

Hop & Sting at Grapevine Craft Brewery is pouring for a purpose this summer. The local tap room and beer garden is featuring the GRACE American Wheat Beer to cool you down during these hot summer days. The light citrus brew was originally created during GRACE’s April fundraising event, Dine to Donate, and has become a popular choice among customers. So much so that the owners have made the decision to keep on giving! Fifty cents for every GRACE American Wheat sold will benefit GRACE. Thanks to the generosity of the owners and support of patrons, $650 was raised in June alone!   Interested in hosting a fundraising event for GRACE? Please email volunteer@GRACEGrapevine.org or call 817-305-4653.

JPS Executives Volunteer at Donation Station

The high spirits and can-do spirit of the JPS Executive Team made light work of a stifling hot day at Donation Station. More than twenty hospital administrators  led by Robert Earley, president and CEO of JPS Health Network, ventured to GRACE Donation Station on Thursday morning. As temperatures climbed well into the high-90s, a group of the JPS volunteers joyfully greeted donors in the drive-through, helping to unload donated boxes and bags of clothing and household goods. As a group finished their shift outside on the hot drive-through, they came inside for a cooling breather and rehydration. Another group of JPS leaders immediately took their place. Inside, other volunteers sorted and boxed items for GRACE clients, tagged and hung clothing for GRACE resale locations, and stored seasonal items for later use. And waited for their turn in the drive-through. Despite the recent weather, Donation Station on North Scribner Street in

TD Auto Finance volunteers at Donation Station

Volunteers from TD Auto Finance recently braved the heat and volunteered at Donation Station. Their hard work will allow us to continue to serve the needs of our clients and our community. Donation Station is the drive-thru drop-off site where all donations from the community are processed. Volunteers help unload donations from cars, and then sort the items so that we can fill our clients’ needs. Donation Station houses all the items given by the community, such as clothing, housewares, linens, toys and books to provide assistance to those in the midst of hardship. Your donation gives families hope when they wonder how they’ll be able to clothe their growing children, or manage their electric bill. Before any goods are placed on the resale shop shelves or in a client’s home, volunteers are needed to sort and process each item received. To be the best stewards of our in-kind item

First United Methodist Church’s BIG WEEK at Feed Our Kids!

Members from the First United Methodist Church of Grapevine came together to feed children in need in our community. First United has historically been one of the most supportive partners for our Feed Our Kids program, and this year has been no exception. Together, volunteers took over all 6 sites for one week, delivering and serving lunches to over 2,700 children that week. The logistics behind this effort are tremendous, with food preparation for so many at one time. Volunteers worked hard to prepare, pack and provide these lunches, and then braved the heat to deliver and serve them. In addition to this, First United will serve lunch at our GRACE Main location for three more weeks this summer, which will result in over 4,500 lunches served by this incredible group of volunteers. We are so grateful to have such amazing church partners and supporters! Thank you First United Methodist

When life gives you lemons, girls set up a Lemonade Stand!

When children learn about service from a young age, they become life-long givers! Brooklyn and Britton Buehlman, 8 & 6 years old, who are out of school for the summer, decided to come to work with their Dad. The young ladies set up a lemonade stand at the Grapevine Dodge Chrysler Jeep dealership, where their dad Brandon works as the General Manager. They helped cool off the customers for a good cause, with all proceeds going to GRACE. To complete the giving experience for their daughters, the Buehlman Family visited the GRACE offices to drop off the proceeds of the lemonade stand. The girls were able to see first-hand how their actions impact the lives of others positively. Thank you so much for being compassionate citizens who give back to their community!

Transitional Housing Welcomes Two New Families

Last week we had two new families move into our Transitional Housing program, which is always celebrated with a home blessing. We are appreciative of the partnership we have with Catholic Charities, Good Shepherd and White’s Chapel. We have had tremendous support from them. White’s Chapel finished each of these apartment’s furnishings, complete with stocked cabinets and close attention to detail including family friendly pictures on the wall promoting love and faith. Catholic Charities and Good Shepherd have offered their support through case management, counseling and finances. The Grapevine Police Department had a presence at both home blessings including the new Chief of Police, Mike Hamlin. They spent some time talking to each family about their commitment to help them live in a safe environment which allows them to focus their energy on the goals of the program and their ability to move towards self-sufficiency. Also present were community partners,
