No truer example of “invaluable service” is found than in Lynda and Robert Warner. We are honored to announce this wonderful couple as 2019’s Angel of GRACE recipients! Many know the Warner’s from their successful work raising funds for numerous causes throughout the community. With their experience and leadership abilities, they surged directly to the lead of the GRACE Gala last year. Among the many innovations they created, the Family-2-Family campaign and the flourishing GRACE social media presence stand out. Last year’s very successful Gala was just the beginning. Lynda and Robert have put their creative minds to work planning and directing new ways to support the GRACE mission! The first annual GRACE Poker Tournament was a resounding success last January.   Kimberly and Brent Tipps  welcomed dozens of guests to the GRACE Gala VIP Party on October 8th at the beautiful Vaquero Club in Westlake. The elegant event honored donors and volunteers who make the Gala possible. With the GRACE Gala scheduled for next Saturday, October 26, last Tuesday was a chance to thank the many sponsors, volunteers, committee members and others who bring the Gala to life, and express our gratitude for raising much-needed funds for client services and programs. The GRACE Gala is the single-largest fundraising event for GRACE during the year, and funds raised support all GRACE mission services including Emergency Assistance, Clothing and Food, Transitional Housing, Senior Services and the Community Clinic. GRACE Chief Executive Officer, Shonda Schaefer, spoke on the importance of the Gala campaign season.  Paul Bischler, GRACE Board President, voiced the appreciation of the Board for the hard work of the Gala Committee.

The GRACE Gala was conceptualized in 2004 as a way to generate funds to serve a growing population in need.  The GRACE Board of Directors put together a dynamic Gala Advisory Board made up of prominent community members from Grapevine, Southlake and Colleyville.  In its first year, the GRACE Gala sold out six months before the event! With each year that passes, the GRACE Gala funds allow us to provide much needed services to the Northeast Tarrant County Community.  We hope to continue the tradition of raising funds to provide all that we can to those in need and having a good time while we do it!   On Sunday, NorthGate Constructors celebrated 10 years since the signing of their HUGE DFW Connector contract!  To help celebrate NorthGate employees and their families, as well as what they have accomplished over the past ten years, their team wanted to give back to their favorite local non-profit.  Yes, GRACE! NorthGate professes, “We are continually impressed by the work GRACE does for the community every single day!” Chelsea and Cade from NorthGate Constructors stopped by to deliver an entire truck-full of canned goods to The Pantry.  And we are not talking just a pick-up truck full, but a box truck full! Pantry Manager, Keith Hills, was happy to see his friends return, saying, “I remember Chelsea from her volunteer work with GRACE Grocery Giveaway over the summer.  She worked so hard breaking down all the grocery boxes!” Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, NorthGate, for your “can do”

Last year, our VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program reached close to 400 families whose income fell under $56,000.  The importance of this program cannot be emphasized enough!  This program helps low-to-moderate income families to claim all the tax credits for which they are eligible including the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Child Tax Credits (CTC).  The tax returns were completed by trained volunteers who truly make this program possible.  Families who often struggle to meet their basic needs do not have to pay expensive fees to have their tax returns completed and monies that they qualify for are not left on the table. We need your help!  On Saturday, Nov. 2nd from 10:00am to 11:00 am, GRACE is hosting an information meeting for anyone who might be interested in volunteering for VITA.  Beginning January 27th, 2020, GRACE will open its doors to families and individuals needing their tax
