WEEK OF SERVICE AT DONATION STATION

One of the many incredible things about the operations at Donation Station and our resale sites is that it beckons people of all ages and from all walks of life. This week GRACE was proud to partner with Honda for their first annual Week of Service. Every Honda employee in North America and abroad took some time to give back to their community, and we feel tremendously honored that Honda chose GRACE as their local organization. Six separate shifts of workers sorted goods at Donation Station and greeted guests with incoming donations. The sixth graders at Hackberry Creek in Frisco decided to end the year with a worthwhile field trip to GRACE. The students were a huge help processing the large quantity of goods through Donation Station that get selected for material assistance and resale merchandise. The newest members of NCL Southlake certainly weren’t shy when they volunteered this week

FACES OF GRACE: TAMMY PIEL

Not only does the work of GRACE bring out the best in the people we serve, we believe GRACE brings out the BEST people to see our mission is carried out. “Faces of GRACE” is an editorial series that highlights instrumental volunteers who offer their talents and resources to support families in need. Tammy Piel has worked closely with NCL DFW Metroport as the Feed Our Kids coordinator and liaison to GRACE the past three years. The local chapter honors the mother-daughter relationship through mentoring and various service projects, including Feed Our Kids. BECOME A GRACE ALLY AS A SPONSOR

GALA SPONSORSHIP Becoming a GRACE Gala Sponsor is more than a logo on a sign; it is a vital partnership that showcases a desire to see your community thrive. Individuals, families, local business, corporations and civic groups have the opportunity to highlight their support as Sponsors with an in-kind donation or monetary Sponsorship. In-kind Sponsorship All in-kind donations strengthen our Silent, Big Board and Live Auctions, which generate a great deal of funds the night of the Gala to support GRACE programs. Regardless of Gala attendance, everyone can view and place bids on the Silent Auction items prior to the event. In-kind Sponsorships grant a business the opportunity to offer a product or service that is unique to their identity on behalf of their brand. However, you don’t have to be a business to donate on behalf of your family or group. Past gifts have included airline miles, vacation stays and spa

HUNGER IS CLOSER THAN YOU THINK

To most of us, hunger is no more than a fleeting sensation. Three square meals are a nonnegotiable, and often we can snack on a whim without a second thought. True hunger only seems to exist on some dire spectrum in a far off place, certainly not in our neighborhoods. But if we dare to imagine a situation in which we lost nearly everything, including our livelihood, our home, our health and perhaps a family member we depended on, poverty ebbs closer to home. When we imagine having so little that select meals can become negotiable, we are identifying with the reality of families living in our midst—our cities and neighborhoods—struggling between necessities like rent, diapers, utilities and daycare. GRACE steps in to bridge the gap of needs in various ways, food being one of the pillars of our services. Feed Our Kids was established to provide nutritious meals during
