Here’s a weekend event your family can enjoy together and support local families in distress.

Join us for Altrusa International of DFW, Inc’s fifth annual RUN IN THE PARK 5K/1MI on Saturday, April 16. Hosted at Bicentennial Park in Southlake, the race provides support for the service organization for programs like Feed Our Kids, where the service club sponsors a week of meals each summer.

The pet-friendly event boasts a 5k USATF certified course and a 1k course perfect for young families. The run will include some high-caliber guests, including a performance by Miss Teen Southlake Madison Zandt, Miss Southlake Holly Morgan and Colby Lowe, local track star legend and U.S. Olympic marathon contender.  Internationally-known speaker Rick Kolster will be the event’s emcee again this year.

This year runners are encouraged to bring their pooch in costume for the Best Dog Costume and Best Dog Trick awards. The event includes free digital race photos, free food, face painting, and raffle prizes.

The race begins at 8:15a.m., with early registration fees starting at $20. We are thankful for the time and energy invested in this event, and for Altrusa’s partnership to meet the needs of at-risk children in our neighborhoods.
