At its heart, Galentine’s Day is a celebration of friendship and connections that outlast all of life’s rough patches, dry spells and even some romantic relationships. Those truly good friends establish a sense of stability when nothing else is in life can make that promise. What better way to celebrate these women than with parties, retail therapy and good food?

In honor of Galentine’s Day this year, Rena Frost from Mac’s on Main laid out the red carpet at her restaurant and gave the women of GRACE Transitional Housing all of the above.

On Wednesday night, each member of the program was invited to dress up for an evening of fine dining and wine. When the ladies arrived, a four course meal had been prepared just for them, complete with a wine pairing to sip with each dish. If it wasn’t already special enough, Rena had customized menus crafted for the affair. If you have ever made a visit to Mac’s on Main, there is no need to convince you that the food was incredible. To top it all off, Rena had a beautiful pair of earrings at each place setting as a gift for the ladies.

The evening was one meant for relaxing, socializing and supporting one another as women who endured. Rena went from table to table talking to each woman about themselves as well as her love for food, making sure each one felt special that night. Our women in Transitional Housing come from all walks of life, most of which are unhealthy and unstable. The large majority of the ladies hadn’t experienced this kind of treatment on a regular basis if at all, which made this sweet gesture from Rena even more meaningful.

It was the night of the Christmas Cottage Open House when the idea was sparked. After assembling her exquisite charcuterie display for the guests this past December, Rena spoke with Ravan Anderson and Martisha Smith, our Transitional Housing Managers, sharing an event that had been on her heart to do for the women of Transitional Housing. It goes without saying her idea was executed beautifully.

Thank you Rena for your constant support for GRACE and its mission. You have touched the hearts of so many women, and your generosity is contagious. Go give her a visit at Mac’s on Main with your friends and family- she never disappoints!
