SHARE THE LEGACY OF YOUR MOM THIS MOTHER’S DAY

Just in time for Mother’s Day, the men’s group at Good Shepherd Community Church decided to pay it forward in honor of the mother figures who made a profound impact on their lives. Proceeds from the group’s annual Casino Night went to support causes that were meaningful to the group, including a $1,000 donation support our Friends & Family program. At any given time, our Friends & Family network is comprised of approximately 85% women; often grandmothers and widows whose children live out of state or are unable to properly care for them. Showing compassion to the elderly population locally provides commodities, medical attention and companionship to seniors who are isolated, immobile and struggling with a very limited income. Many volunteers and supporters whose loved ones live far away feel assurance that someone is tending to their family members the way they are caring for others where they live. If

FIVE REASONS TO SHOP RESALE

1. There are few places where it can pay to shop Shoppers have been known to find items that far exceed their value. Just last week a shopper purchased a German silver belt buckle for $3.99 at GRACEful Buys in Euless. Out of curiosity the customer checked Ebay, and to his delight the belt buckle was listed at prices up to $300! Whether he decided to don his new buckle with his wranglers or sell was up to him, but one customer walked away with a find of great personal value. 2. It’s adventurous You can’t put a price on the thrill of the hunt. With our inventory constantly changing, each store boasts variety of styles and designs from clothing to home décor to children’s toys, books, games and electronics. Many people donate clothing that is in season, in style and in mint condition.  People often donate items after cleaning

GRACE ANNOUNCES VOLUNTEER GROUP OF THE YEAR

GRACE is blessed with strong relationships among church groups, corporate partners and civic clubs. Each year one volunteer group is recognized for going above the call to meet a tangible need for families at GRACE.  This year’s Volunteer Group of the Year goes to CWS Corporate Housing. CWS Corporate Housing contacted GRACE to meet a pressing need in our agency.  To our delight, our initial suggestions were turned down because they weren’t, “big enough”. It quickly became obvious that this group wanted to do more than check off a box; they had a heartfelt desire to employ their talents in a way that would make a lasting impact on families. After some collaboration, Transitional Housing seemed like an ideal fit for their industry. Not only did the team at CWS revitalize the Transitional Housing grounds with new landscaping, paint, exterior finishes, and plumbing, the group completely furnished our apartments to
