We are thrilled to welcome Melissa Ansley as the GRACE Events Manager. Melissa’s unique combination of dynamism and effervescent spirit make her a true ambassador of GRACE with sponsors, vendors, volunteers and GRACE clients alike.
We asked Melissa to share her heart about what motivates her to serve alongside the volunteers and staff at GRACE.
What brings you to GRACE?
I was with a national non-profit for nine years and I learned a great deal about fundraising and collaborating with volunteer groups. There came a time where I felt called to work for an organization that spoke to the stirrings of my heart.
As I started researching local non-profits GRACE stood out among the rest as something I could apply my talents to make tangible changes in the lives of local families. The position is a great cross-over to what I was doing in my previous position but with exciting challenges.
Describe your typical day
I don’t think in this position there is a typical day. My role consists of overseeing our two major fundraising events; Drive Into the Night and the GRACE Gala and all the things that entails. This includes fundraising, committee coordination, event logistics and donor stewardship.
Every day focuses on a different facet, which makes it continually surprising and different. The best part of my day is interacting with the volunteers at GRACE. The love and commitment they have to the mission of GRACE is amazing.
Which GRACE Core value is most instilled in your role?
Excellence! I learned a while back that striving for excellence is way better than trying to be perfect. Excellence takes the pressure off and allows you to work within your gifts for the greater good.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
As someone who plans events for a living and loves to plan out my whole life, this verse speaks to me in on a deep level. It reminds me that at the end of the day He is in control and I can make all the plans that I want, but it’s His plan that will prevail…and His plan will always better than mine.
