School’s out, and you know what that means – endless volunteer opportunities all summer long! This is a great way for you to serve your community during the season. Read on to find out how you can be involved! You don’t want to miss out.

The GRACE Feed Our Kids (FOK) Program is a seasonal lunch program led by Seasonal Programs Coordinator, Beth Chernik. FOK provides lunches to local children who may rely on school to provide their midday meal, and therefore face having to go without it when school is not in session. So, how can you help? Volunteer to provide these children with a good meal, warm smiles, and a welcoming atmosphere! There is plenty of room for creativity, with many volunteers providing arts and crafts materials, sports equipment, or music for the perfect lunchtime dance break. Children not only receive a good lunch, but are able to play with other children in their community, a welcome break in their day. Are you excited to join the fun? We have room for you! This is the perfect opportunity for church groups, your business, the whole family – just reach out to Beth at bchernik@GRACEGrapevine.org to get started. We can’t wait to see you, and neither can the children!

Another fabulous volunteer opportunity for the summer is with the GRACE Community Garden. Our amazing garden was designed over 10 years ago to provide a fresh source of produce for the community, and now, this garden brings forth over 2,500 pounds of organically grown produce every year! GRACE gives special thanks to volunteer Caryn Hutchingson, who has put in countless hours making this garden successful, and has taught many a GRACE client and community member the importance of a healthy diet, as well as how to care for this beautiful garden. We are always looking for more volunteers to assist with planting, watering, and cultivating the many fruits and vegetables that grow in our garden. The best part? When the produce is ready, our volunteers harvest it and bring it just a few feet over to the GRACE Food Pantry, so our clients can choose what they’d like to bring home! Does this sound like the perfect way to dedicate your time to your community? You can sign up here today!

Last but certainly not least, GRACE has a wonderful resale department that would love to have you on their team as a volunteer! Did you know that the summer months are one of the busiest times for resale? The Donation Station receives many, many donates items every day, which then need to be sorted and processed before heading either directly to GRACE clients, or to our two resale stores – GRACEful Buys Euless and Grapevine. Our resale stores are a vital resource for the community, and help fund a hearty portion of our annual budget. Volunteers are needed to help move furniture, price items, sort and arrange items for sale, and assist at the cash register. This is a great way for teenagers to gain valuable job experience, or for anyone to serve their community in a unique way. Want to join the team? You can sign up here for a shift now!

This is just a small sampling of the many volunteer opportunities available for you, your group, or your family to enjoy at GRACE. You can learn more about these opportunities at a volunteer orientation, held every other Tuesday at 4PM at GRACE, located at 837 East Walnut St. in Grapevine. Our next volunteer orientation is scheduled for Tuesday, June 6th. Have questions? Reach out to Volunteer Manager, Ryan Jackson, at volunteer@GRACEGrapevine.org today! GRACE values each and every volunteer, and are so thankful for your decision to serve your community with us. Do not let the summer pass you by – come join the fun!
