GRACE has been helping individuals and families who find themselves short on food since its inception in 1987. Although the method of food service delivery has changed with GRACE adopting a self-select model in 2006, the importance of making sure the community we serve has sufficient food available to them has remained unchanged.
Until the primary basic needs are met, other movement towards self-sufficiency is hindered as the Maslow Hierarchy of Needs illustrates. GRACE hopes that by helping people with their basic needs they can expend their energy on higher-level focus that could help them be their best self.
Currently, the GRACE Pantry is fulfilling nutritional assistance for about 500 visits per month. We assume that these numbers will increase as the price of everything, it seems, is increasing at an alarming rate.
The summer months are always a lean time for the GRACE Pantry. Many organizations and individuals think of donating food during the holidays when we provide close to 1000 holiday food “baskets” to families in addition to our regular Pantry visits. We simply could not serve that number in November and December without the donors focused on helping with food donations! We are so grateful.
However, now we are seeing empty pantry shelves and that concerns us. With the rise in rents, gas, utilities and food, we need your help in addressing hunger.
There are many ways to donate to the Pantry including bringing donations to 837 E. Walnut Street between 8:30 and 5:00 Monday thru Friday. In addition, we have added an link below that will take you to our Amazon wish list which can be a quick way to donate straight from the comfort of your home. Of course, monetary donations are also welcome. With the partnership we have with Tarrant Area Food Bank, we are able to buy available food including produce for pennies on the dollar. Your donation will go a long way to helping to fill our Pantry shelves. Thank you for your help in whatever shape it takes!
