Introducing the 2025 GRACE Gala Auction Chair

GRACE is proud to announce that this year’s Gala Auction Chair is none other than Lynda Warner! Lynda Warner has been a dedicated and passionate volunteer for many years, and her impact can be seen throughout nearly every corner of the GRACE mission. Whether offering her time, ideas, or resources, Lynda has consistently shown up with heart and purpose to help further the reach and success of GRACE programs. Most people know Lynda as the faithful chair of our Designer Bags & Bingo event, held each year on the first Sunday in May. Under her leadership, this event has become one of GRACE’s most beloved and successful events. But this year, she’s stepping into another exciting role—Chair of the GRACE Gala Auction Committee—and we could not be more excited for what lies ahead! Over the years, Lynda has found countless ways to support the mission, whether it’s helping gather donations,

Community-Fueled Fourth of July

While most services and companies are closed for the 4th of July holiday, we know that the children in our community still depend on us for not only a meal – but for an hour of F-U-N! With a delicious lunch of barbeque sandwiches and all the sides what could complete a meal? Girl Scout cookies! When Feed our Kids received a donation of 13 cases of various cookies earlier in the week, Girl Scout Troop 2773 learned that they were going to be served in GRACE’s first 4th of July Party celebrating the summer lunch program, they asked to join the party. Bringing other members of their troop, they passed out boxes of cookies to those who’ve only heard of Girl Scout Cookies but never had a whole box to themselves. In between the meal and dessert came water balloon fights, sidewalk chalk hopscotch, and a football toss. To

Dreams Put on Hold

Having the bravery to come to GRACE and ask for help is no easy thing, even for a military veteran. This last month, a single father of three daughters came to GRACE seeking housing assistance and any other assistance GRACE had to offer. Having recently served in the military, he had planned to become a police officer here in Texas, but that plan was now delayed. The mother of his children had left the family and was not helping to support the girls financially. With no other adult now in the home, and with one of his daughters exhibiting symptoms of severe autism, he had no other choice but to put his police academy dreams on hold. Now, having to be the sole provider for his girls by balancing his VA benefits with ride-share and delivery jobs, the strain on his time and resources has been extreme, and he just

Celebrating Christmas in July

Summer is here and all of us are participants in the annual Texas tradition of finding creative ways to beat the heat! For some, it’s heading to the pool. For others, they are off to cooler vacation spots, and for a few creative community partners including 121 Community Church, it’s celebrating Christmas in July! Though the GRACE Christmas Cottage seems like a long way off, after serving 4,260 individuals in December of 2024, the truth is that it never really left our minds. Celebrating Christmas in July allows us to specifically focus on gathering teen gifts and ensuring that parents and guardians have a unique selection when shopping for their tween or teen. So often, this selection of gifts pales in comparison to others offered to our shoppers at the cottage. GRACE does the best we can to keep the selection stocked by purchasing a variety as needed, but our

Jina Walker Leads with Compassion and Strategy in First Year as GRACE’s Chief Program Officer

“GRACE is a collaboration of so many who work together to make sure that all in our community can thrive and build a beautiful life. I am so grateful to be a part of that GRACE family.” And a part of the family Jina Walker has become as she completes her first year of service as the new (not so new) Chief Program Officer of GRACE. Jina started with GRACE in her new role in August of 2024, but she is no stranger to providing grace and compassion to those who are struggling and in need of a little helping hand. With over 12 years of experience in social service programming including outreach, housing, and emergency assistance, Jina brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table. She is the very definition of the phrase “hit the ground running” and within her first year she has already made some

GRACE Strengthens Housing Support Through New Landlord Partnership Initiative

As housing costs rise across Northeast Tarrant County, more local families are struggling to find and keep safe, stable homes. The affordable housing shortage has become one of the most pressing challenges facing our community, and GRACE is working to meet this need head-on. In 2024 we opened a new housing program focused on families emerging from financial emergencies, and earlier this year we added a second initiative to serve households with more complex or long‑term needs. Both programs are anchored in the belief that housing is the starting point for lasting self‑sufficiency. To help renters keep their homes once they move in, GRACE introduced RentSmart, a skills‑based course that teaches tenants how to communicate with landlords, understand lease responsibilities, and make on‑time payments—reducing costly violations for everyone involved. The next piece of the puzzle is stronger collaboration with property owners. On Wednesday, July 9, from 1:00–3:00 PM, GRACE and Grapevine Outreach will
