Just as traditional as the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, our friends at Home Depot are again marching forward to extend a helping hand to our staff and volunteers at the GRACE Christmas Cottage. Over the years, their thoughtful donations provide essential supplies needed to give the nearly 900 families—more than 2,500 children—a merry Christmas.

The first job for the Christmas Cottage “elves”, and aided to great extent by our Home Depot friends, is a thorough cleaning of the Christmas Cottage warehouse space. Tons of cleaning supplies, disinfecting products, brooms, mops, and more are needed before the holiday decorations are even unboxed.

Each year, a supply of simple Contractors Bags provided by Home Depot serve one of the most meaningful aspects of Christmas Cottage.  Hundreds of Contractors Bags function as “Santa’s Toy Bag” for parents while they shop for their children. This year, Home Depot not only donated the Santa’s Toy Bags, but they extended the holiday spirit one step further into our other GRACE programs.

Along with a sizeable donation of paper goods for our Food Pantry, they also presented GRACE with $1,000 to go directly into our programs. Donations of all shapes and sizes are what allow GRACE to reach the number of families it does every year, but gifts like these bring a little extra joy to our clients during the holiday season. We couldn’t help the community without support from its members, so thank you Home Depot for pouring into our mission!
