Arts Council Northeast (ArtsNET) hosted their 25th Shining Stars Awards Luncheon last week. This luncheon is an opportunity for non-profits to celebrate volunteers who make a difference to their agency as well as to the community. GRACE was thrilled to honor two volunteers who have made a huge impact on the GRACE Community Clinic, one from 2022 and one for 2023 at this award ceremony.

The GRACE 2022 Shining Star was Mita Mehta. Mita owns Glenview Professional Pharmacy with co-owner Keith Van Heise. Over seven years ago, Mita started helping GRACE Community Clinic access flu vaccines for its patients. She loved the GRACE mission and serving patients that do not have access to traditional health care. During the pandemic, Mita contacted GRACE again to offer to help supply and administer COVID vaccines. To date, she has provided over 2,000 vaccines through her partnership with GRACE!

The GRACE 2023 Shining Star is Dr. Song Lee. Dr. Lee has been in Private Family Practice since 1996. In 2019, Dr. Lee added the role of Assistant Professor at the Department of Family Medicine, at Burnett School of Medicine in Fort Worth, TX. Dr. Lee has volunteered as the GRACE Community Clinic Medical Director since 2003 when GRACE started offering medical care one day a week at a local church. Today, the full-time Community Clinic continues to rely on Dr. Lee’s expertise, caring attitude and excellent patient care. Last year, GRACE was able to provide over 5,000 patient visits to uninsured adults in Northeast Tarrant County. Having a Medical Director is essential in being able to provide diverse care to patients and we are so honored to work alongside Dr. Lee!

These two examples of selfless, caring, hard-working individuals are adored by the GRACE family. Thank you Mita Mehta and Dr. Song Lee for all you do for GRACE and our community!
