There’s no way to tell exactly when and where Sheila Moyer logged her 1,500th volunteer hour at GRACE.
GRACE CEO Shonda Schaefer could only describe Sheila’s volunteer record as “Over 1,500 hours” when she introduced Sheila as the GRACE Volunteer of the Year at yesterday’s Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon.
“Countless hours,” said Shonda, referring to Sheila’s ten years of volunteering at GRACE. “Sheila has volunteered for nearly every program, event, or location.”
Shonda especially cited Sheila’s work at GRACE Christmas Cottage and the GRACE Gala as just a few examples of her dedication and passion for helping GRACE.
Thursday’s annual soiree of gratitude was a marvelous kaleidoscope of hearts, chocolates, and pink t-shirts beckoning all to “Party Hearty”.
More than 250 volunteers attended representing thousands of others who donated more than 52,000 volunteer hours in 2019.
Sixteen other volunteers were awarded “Volunteer of the Year” recognition in their departments. Each was introduced by the staff manager in the department.
Tip Solomon took the honors as the Client Services Volunteer of the Year. Donation Station named Ellyn King. Medrith Jaggears was top volunteer at GRACEful Buys-Euless; Sharon and Jerry Sloan were chosen at GRACEful Buys-Grapevine.
Linda Diehl was named Volunteer of the Year for Style & GRACE. John Slocum was selected for the Development Department. Leslie Casey was honored for her work with Special Events. Students from the Colleyville ISD Transition Program received Volunteer Group honors.
GRACE Treasurer Karen Parrish was the Board Member of the Year. Lauren Green was named for the Friends & Family program. The Food Pantry selected Carter Haddon. Pam Morrison was the top volunteer in the Clothing Room.
Pharmacist Dan Nguyen was chosen for the Community Clinic. GRACE Transitional Housing celebrated the work of White’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Seasonal Programs, including GRACE Christmas Cottage, recognized Judy Sutherland.
Last, but not least, 13-year-old Marshall Clarke was selected Youth Volunteer of the Year, his second award. He was first honored as Outstanding Youth Volunteer in 2013. His exceptional work is at the GRACE Community Gardens where he assists his mother Master Gardener Becca Clarke, who was herself the Gardens Volunteer of the Year in 2012.
