The GRACE Outreach to Health Community Clinic is now joined each month by the Texas Health Resources Mobile Health Unit.

The Wellness for Life Mobile Health Program of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital provides the service that offers the best-known defense against breast cancer – early detection.

Texas Health’s Mobile Health Unit now visits the GRACE Outreach to Health Community Clinic every month.

The Mobile Health Unit will see GRACE clients who are in need of mammograms and meet the mammogram screening criteria set by the American Cancer Society.  All appointments are scheduled through the GRACE Community Clinic.

The partnership with Texas Health began in 2013 with quarterly mammogram screenings. With the long waiting list of women who needed screenings, and the growing volume of clients coming to GRACE for all services, the upgrade to monthly visits was an essential and vital resource to the Community Clinic and to the community at-large.

The majority of GRACE clients are women, and women-headed households comprise a large percentage of GRACE client families. Also, for many households, she may be the sole wage earner for the family.

Annual screenings, early detection and treatment of breast cancer help to stabilize many families served by GRACE.

While the screenings at GRACE are for GRACE clients only, the Wellness for Life Program serves to make medical testing as accessible as possible for all people.

Wellness for Life is a prevention and early detection program. It works to increase awareness of cancer prevention, to promote the benefits of cancer screening, and to offer easy accessibility to many types of screening and early detection services.

Wellness for Life offers breast, prostate, skin, colon and other cancer-related screenings that are recommended by the American Cancer Society.

The Mobile Health Unit makes numerous regular stops throughout the area, and the unit can be scheduled to bring screening and early detection services directly to workplaces with a maximum examination time of 20 minutes.

It is staffed by family nurse practitioners, registered nurses and other health professionals. Medical oversight is provided by a board-certified physician member of the Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth medical staff.
