Leadership Colleyville Poverty Simulation

The Colleyville Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program will be conducting a Poverty Simulation. The simulation is a great way to increase awareness of poverty in our community as well as inform participants on how they can better support the less advantaged in our area.

Date:               April 3, 2019

Location:       Crown of Life Church & School – 6605 Pleasant Run Road, Colleyville, TX

Time:               9:00 am – 12:00 pm

**There is no cost to participate and snacks & beverages will be provided during the simulation.**

To create the best possible experience for everyone involved, we are in need of 65 volunteers in total (40 simulation Participants and 20 Resource Providers) – description of roles are as follows:

  • Participants will gain insight and awareness of how it feels to be in need as well as the challenges many of our community neighbors experience when seeking support.  Participants need to arrive between 8:30 – 8:40 am.
  • Resource Providers will help conduct the simulation and play the role of resource service providers to the families in need.  Those volunteering as resource providers will need to arrive by 7:45 am and will be provided breakfast and training on the support role they will assume.  Ideally, resource provider volunteers will have experience with poverty or working with low income individuals.  They must have the ability to understand directions, read and write and have basic math skills.
