GRACE Director of Community Engagement, Lara Hohweiler, showing off some cash given by a team of generous golfers.

Our CEO and several of GRACE staff joined members of NorthGate Constructors and their affiliates today at Bear Creek Country Club for a day of well-deserved fun, relaxation and charity.  It turned out to be a pleasantly cloudy day perfect for NorthGate’s annual golf tournament which raises funds for GRACE Programs!

Alyssa Tenorio, Public Information Manager for NorthGate Constructors, did a fabulous job in organizing and overseeing this year’s event.  Over 150 golfers turned up bright and early at the golf course for some friendly competition and tremendously helpful fundraising.  Last year’s tournament resulted in a gift of $20,000 to GRACE!

Players were welcomed with a breakfast burrito buffet, plus snacks and drinks flowed throughout the day, making for an entertaining event.  They were also treated to a celebratory Hawaiian themed lunch complete with prizes – from a golf bag to golf gear and even Ranger’s tickets – and awards at the close of playing.  Even the lowest scoring team of the day (we won’t name names) went home with a bottle of rum – each of them!

There was no shortage of fun out on the course, and certainly no shortage of generosity.  Players were more than eager to dole out $20, $50 and $100 extra cash for GRACE on the spot.  The donations did come with some potentially score-improving perks, but, nonetheless, the cash goes straight to fund our live-saving Programs.

If you’ve driven anywhere around Grapevine, you’ve seen NorthGate’s trucks and handiwork.  NorthGate Constructors is the firm behind the $1 billion DFW Connector Project that designed and built eight-and-a-half miles of new roads in Grapevine, Southlake and Irving.  The project doubled the size of the existing highway system around the north entrance to DFW International Airport.

Last year, NorthGate Constructors broke ground on a $370 million makeover of the I-635 and Highway 121 interchange in Grapevine.  The project is widening and reconstructing

the interchange, which will create smoother entrances and exits, and add more lanes for drivers.  Everyone one of us in the area benefit from the excellent work NorthGate executes, and GRACE is incredibly grateful for the extent they go to to give back to those in need in our community!

A big shout out is deserved for our Director of Resale Operations, Pam Basiloy, for representing GRACE and telling our story and mission to attendees during the closing presentation.  Thanks to everyone who was a part of the tournament, and to everyone who has helped make commutes in the Grapevine area safer and quicker.
