GRACE Board of Directors members and staff gathered early in the morning last weekend to dig deep in careful consideration over the direction of GRACE. The GRACE Strategic Planning Session took place Saturday, March 9th at the Hilton DFW Lakes Executive Conference Center. The Board of Directors, which is comprised of key community representative and leaders, gathered with our GRACE Leadership Team to discuss the future vision, goals, needs, and growth of the organization.

Strategic planning is an organizational management activity that is used to set priorities, focus energy and resources, strengthen operations, ensure that employees and other stakeholders are working toward common goals, establish agreement around intended outcomes and results, and assess and adjust the organization’s direction in response to a changing environment. It is a disciplined effort that produces fundamental decisions and actions that shape and guide what an organization is – who it serves, what it does, and why it does it – with a focus on the future.

Effective strategic planning articulates not only where an organization is going and the actions needed to make progress, but also how it will know if it is successful.

Lisa Harrington, strategic coach and management consultant, facilitated the meeting. Under her guidance and leadership, the Board established three new “pillars” in which the organization will focus on for the next three years. The three pillars: Inspire Involvement, Fiscal Integrity, and Proactive Response, will provide direction to GRACE as we look towards the future needs of the community and growth as an organization. Lisa’s expertise and insight was invaluable. You may view her bio here.

We wish to extend a special thank you to Steve Haley, GRACE Board Member and General Manager of Hilton DFW Lakes, for hosting the Strategic Planning Session. They provided the space needed for everyone to work collaboratively as well as delectable food to fuel the brain!

GRACE is abundantly blessed to have the dedication and commitment of so many crucial individuals and supporters. It takes much more than a village to do what we do here and to be enabled to help so many people and families in need. Our Board of Directors spend countless hours, celebrate our clients’ successes, pray for our mission, direction, and people, attend our events, and even show up bright and early on a Saturday with their thinking caps on to help drive our agency to effectiveness and a better future. We cannot thank them enough!
