Abraham Lincoln said, “No man (woman) stands so tall as when they stoop to help a child.”
In the last month, GRACE met a mother who was doing all she could to provide for her son who lives with muscular dystrophy and needs consistent care. She had chosen to stop working to care for him full-time since his condition had progressed to limit and ceased his ability to move without assistance. While this decision had made sense in the short term, she now has found herself falling behind on bills which threaten their housing security.
Despite these challenges, she has done her best to work odd jobs and temporary assignments to best support her family, but now she needed GRACE.
GRACE, through our partnerships, was able to bring her utility bills to current and connected her with further resources that would help both her and improve the health of her son during this difficult time. She was incredibly grateful and thankful that her courage in asking for help led not just to resources, but emotional relief so she could stop worrying about finances for awhile and just be present caring for her son at his most vulnerable moments.
