Each student receives a backpack filled with the specific supplies required for their grade level.
GRACE partners with the community during the annual GCISD Back to School Fair to provide supplies to families.
Volunteers play a major role in gathering supplies and stuffing backpacks each summer.
Connect with a Care Manager to request school supplies for your family. Individuals seeking Back to School assistance must reside in the GRACE service area and meet criteria to be eligible for services.
For the fastest response and to determine your eligibility, schedule an appointment below and upload the necessary documents prior to your visit. Walk-ins are available between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday and one Saturday each month, but scheduling appointments is strongly encouraged.
If you’re interested in donating items or helping to stuff backpacks, we welcome your assistance! Please visit our volunteer page for current opportunities. We usually begin collecting supplies in May, with the goal of providing items to students by mid-August.
VolunteerWhen we are in need of assistance, you can find a supply wishlist on our Current Needs page.
In July, GRACE was visited by a young mother who was trying to start over. Fleeing domestic violence had left her displaced, exhausted, and at her wits end trying to find stability.
GRACE provided her with access to the food pantry, clothing for her 3 children, and backpacks for each of them filled with all the supplies needed for the school year ahead. In spite of the many unknowns, this mother could find hope knowing that the needs of her children were met and see the joy on their faces when they got to choose backpacks with their favorite characters/colors.
