Starting over is hard enough when planned. But some people find themselves starting over suddenly and with no support– then they find GRACE.
A client recently came through our doors seeking utility assistance. She had plans of moving to Texas with her husband and her three-year-old daughter, but after she arrived with her daughter, her husband suddenly dropped contact. He no longer returned her calls or texts, and she has not heard from him since.
With no warning, she found herself alone in a brand-new state. She did her best to pivot and was able to secure a remote job that allowed her to remain available for her daughter while also keeping up with her college studies as she earns her degree. However, the gap in employment made catching up on bills difficult. Even with a job, trying to stay afloat between past and present expenses created a strain that would hold her at arms-length from stability indefinitely.
GRACE covered her utilities for the month, which gave her the confidence both emotionally and financially that she needed to face the road ahead as a newly single mother.
