Keeping the Keys to Self-Sufficiency

GRACE makes it a point to ensure that each of our individuals and families receives tailored care for each of the concerns they bring to us. With personalized care crafted around their specific needs, GRACE lays a clear path toward self-sufficiency that is easily obtainable for each household if they follow our guidance.

A key example of this came to GRACE in January.

Late last month, a client came seeking assistance with his car payments. During his conversation with a care manager, he shared that he had lost his job several months ago, and during that difficult period, he had fallen behind on many of his bills, including his car payment. His car was nearly paid off, but he was currently three payments behind, and the dealership had sent him a notice of repossession unless the account was made current immediately.

Fortunately, he had recently secured employment, so he was regaining his stability, but his fear of repossession has caused transportation concerns because he didn’t want to lose his car.

After his full assessment with a GRACE care manager, it was determined that helping with his vehicle payments would have a profoundly positive impact on his life and would be the fastest path toward self-sufficiency, as all other financial concerns would soon be resolved now that the client had obtained a new job.

When this decision to cover his past due payments was shared with the client, he was speechless and deeply moved. He expressed his gratitude repeatedly and was visibly emotional, almost to the point of tears. This support not only protected his vehicle but also allowed him to return to work and regain stability.
