Finding Hope After Heartbreak

Grief comes in waves with no predictiable schedule, but even in those moments, GRACE is ready here to help however we can.

Earlier this month, a client came to GRACE seeking assistance with her TXU electric bill and food after experiencing several significant hardships within a short period of time. She shared that her mother, who was her sole provider, had passed away in March, and although she secured employment just two weeks later, she was still grieving and found it difficult to maintain the job.

To make ends meet, she began driving for Uber and eventually obtained two part-time jobs. However, the limited hours and low wages made it difficult to cover her basic expenses. Her situation worsened after she was rear-ended in a car accident mid June, preventing her from continuing to drive for Uber and eliminating a critical source of income.

Despite these challenges, she continued making payments toward her utility bills and others whenever possible. Even so, the remaining balance of her electrical bill had grown well beyond her means. Due to our ongoing partnerships with local utlity providers, GRACE was able to provide over 80% of her balance, significantly reducing her financial burden and helping her maintain electricity while she works to regain stability.

She client expressed heartfelt gratitude for the assistance, sharing that it provided much-needed relief during one of the most difficult periods of her life.
