They’re round and sky blue with a Charlie Brown theme – they’re this year’s GRACE Christmas Cottage Wish Ornament cards. And they’re special because on the back of each one, a child or family in need has written something they’d love for Christmas this year but are not able to buy for themselves.
Christmas Cottage is a GRACE program that provides new, unwrapped gifts to families in our community facing financial hardship due to limited income or recent emergency.
Thousands of our ornaments have been distributed around the community to give as many of us a chance to share our compassion and generosity with others. They can be picked up at the Christmas Cottage Open House. They’re also available at the Walmart in Grapevine, as well as local schools, churches, business, local civic groups.
Lori Stevens has coordinated the GRACE Christmas Cottage for the past eight years. She says that “teens are the forgotten group, so anything for teens would be appreciated.” Gifts for adults are also accepted, “functional family gifts like small electrical appliances would be of great use to them.”
The Christmas Cottage Open House is the best time to bring gift contributions and learn more about the program.
