gardenstockThe GRACE Community Garden is managed by an expert team of volunteers who work the land tirelessly, and harvest more than a ton of fresh organic produce for GRACE clients each year.

These loyal volunteers, several of whom are recognized as Texas Master Gardeners, use the latest gardening strategies and techniques, and apply hours of energy into making the most of the small garden plots next to the GRACE Food Pantry on East Walnut Street in Grapevine.

They are so deserving, yet the budget often limits their supplies. The Community Garden is in need of funds and supplies to ensure clients receive the most nutritious fruits and vegetables possible.

The funds will go to purchase garden essentials, including fertilizer, new seedlings, fencing and potting soil. Next month the Community Garden will start early spring planting with cabbage, cilantro and parsley on Saturday, February 3, noon until done.

Our volunteers have put together a comprehensive listing of Community Garden activities, including how others can join them and volunteer to help grow food for GRACE clients (view full schedule here).

Last year produced an exciting array of vegetables and fruits including strawberries, raspberries, cantaloupe and watermelon—vibrant luxuries to budget-strapped households. Harvest is packed with more than fiber, vitamins and antioxidants—it’s also a tangible way to support and encourage GRACE clients with the gift of nourishment.
