Last week we had the pleasure of hosting the 2016 Leadership Grapevine class as part of their Health and Human Sciences Tour. The daytrip made stops to JPS Health Network, Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine and the GRACE Community Clinic.

Leadership Grapevine is designed to equip participants with a broader awareness of the city’s strengths and resources through educational experiences and projects. The process shares feasible ways the graduates can utilize their expertise to make our community a better place to live.

It isn’t hard to guess that the community’s leaders are made up of some of the most generous people in Grapevine. Last year the 2015 class spent some time away from the ‘classroom’ to clean, restore and beautify the property for Transitional Housing. Leadership Grapevine has also volunteered ample time to our Community Garden initiative and tended to improve our other programs with personal volunteer hours.

This year’s team learned about the flourishing programs at the GRACE Community Clinic, which sees an average of 250 clients a month. The Clinic places much emphasis on preventative care with award-winning nutritional cooking courses, pre-diabetes, diabetes education and smoke cessation classes, to name a few.

“The Leadership Grapevine team, as well as so many people we meet in the community, are blown away when they learn about the breadth of professional services we are able to extend to our patients,” says GRACE Nurse Manager Shirley Roberts. “We say this not to brag on ourselves; our level of care is an unequivocal testament to the generous support we have from local physicians, specialists, donors and volunteers who are the lifeblood of all that we do!”

Graduates of Leadership Grapevine in the GRACE Staff include:

  • Stacy Pacholick, Director of Programs
  • Melissa Simpkins, Executive Assistant
  • Lara Hohweiler, Volunteer Manager
  • Shirley Roberts, Nurse Manager (currently enrolled)

The Community Clinic has volunteer opportunities for Registered Nurses and other medical professionals. Flexible hours are available, and the Community Clinic is a thriving, rewarding environment to utilize your medical skills. Learn more about the GRACE Community Clinic here.
