There simply isn’t enough to say about how the Thompson Group at Classic Chevrolet has made this community a better place. For twelve consecutive years, The Thompson Group has been the Presenting Sponsor of the GRACE Gala, among other charitable events hosted by Classic Chevrolet throughout the year.
This post is the first of many to highlight those who have linked arms with GRACE to accomplish the mission of providing compassionate services to those facing crisis through event sponsorship. In particular, Ken Thompson and the team at The Thompson Group at Classic Chevrolet have been steadfast, instrumental partners not only with our agency, but with the city of Grapevine and Greater Northeast Tarrant County.
They host their Classic Chevrolet Golf Tournament each year which divides its proceeds between seven local charities from the Classic Employee Charity Fund, with a matching dollar for dollar gift from Classic owners Tom and Susan Durant.
Local businesses and civic groups craft a variety of homemade chili, from southwest flair to a beer broth, during Classic’s Annual Chili Cook Off each fall. Non-perishable food is collected at the event to stock the GRACE Food Pantry.
Their newest annual charity fundraising event, the 5K de Mayo Social Run, began in 2018. Participants enjoy the beautiful race scenery that winds through Big Bear Creek and Parr Park while also enjoying the fact that their registration fee doe to a great cause. Classic owners Tom and Susan Durant again contribute a donation that match the total registration fees collected.
In every season at GRACE, the Thompson Group and Classic Chevrolet have instilled an employee culture of giving, which is reflected in their generous Classic Employee Fund and charitable events.
This type of dedication speaks of a generous, resolute corporate culture that recognizes goals and develops ways to meet those goals. “We encourage our employees to push themselves to achieve not only our company goals, but their own personal goals as well,” says Thompson, “giving back to the community has become incredibly important and fulfilling for the entire organization.”
