With three weeks left before the start of summer, GRACE is well on its way to preparing for our summer feeding programs: Feed Our Kids and GRACE Grocery Giveaway.  Thank you to everyone who has scheduled their groups, families, friends and co-workers to provide food to families who suffer with food insecurity….especially during the summer.

There is still room for some additional volunteer groups and we would LOVE to talk to you about availability.  In addition, GRACE has scheduled a virtual FOK/GGG Kick-Off for Tuesday, May 11th at 6:30.  At the FOK/GGG Kick-Off, we will discuss specifics about both programs, what to expect, what you can be doing now to prepare for the summer and additional opportunities for involvement.  Although we ask all site coordinators to attend this meeting, anyone is welcome.  If you have signed up to volunteer with one of these programs this summer and have not received a calendar invite with Zoom contact information OR if you are wanting to see what opportunities are still available, please contact the GRACE Seasonal Program Coordinator, Beth Chernik at bchernik@gracegrapevine.org or at 817-690-4136.

These programs are two ways our community works with GRACE to address food insecurity in our area!  Food insecurity refers to the lack of access, at times, to enough food for an active, healthy life for all household members and limited or uncertain availability of nutritionally adequate foods. Food insecure children are those children living in households experiencing food insecurity. The rate of food insecurity for children in Tarrant County surpasses the national rate by over 3.7%. This means, many children in Tarrant County live in families who do not have adequate and healthy food for all household members.  We estimate feeding over 35,000 meals this summer to children.

We sincerely thank everyone who volunteers for these programs to make that possible!!

We hope to see you at the Kick-Off!!
