We recently became aware that Regina Baldwin, a senior in our Friends and Family program, had not had electricity for days. She had an issue with her breaker box and had to get it fixed. Her daughter had contacted an electrician to fix it but they were not aware that they needed to get a permit to get it inspected in order for power to be restored.

GRACE worked with the city to pay for her fee for the permit. When the City did the inspection, they found that while the breaker box had been fixed, there were more issues due to her meter box not being up to code. Rather than just failing the unit, the City stepped up to help. Regina had already spent more than she could on the original repairs, so any further expense would have been a disaster. The City of Grapevine contacted one of their electricians who donated a new meter, and within a few hours, they had installed it and the City inspector re-inspected it and passed it so that Regina’s power could be restored.

This story once again shows the power of working together to help – GRACE is so proud to be a part of this wonderful, giving community!
