GRACE was honored to take part in nominating key leaders for the 40th Annual Colleyville Area Chamber of Commerce at their Awards Luncheon on January 21.

GCISD leader Jamie Halliburton was selected as GCISD Employee of the Year for her compassion for others and commitment to excellence among her students. Jamie’s contagious joy resounds with children and faculty alike, and cultivates unyielding support from students, parents, teachers, administrators and stakeholders.

As the wife of GRACE Board member Cory Halliburton, the family never passes up a learning opportunity with their expansive community through food drives, holiday giving and GRACE benefit functions. Having completed two Master’s Degrees, Jamie is in the final year of her educational doctorate program. Without question, Jamie’s character and academic vigor make her a shining example of what it means to truly be a treasured member of the community.

As the President and Founder of Grapevine High School Young Feminists, Jenny Foster is well beyond her years in advancing causes that impact women in a local and national level, including her engagement with GRACE. Foster came up with an idea to create welcome baskets for the incoming Transitional Housing clients that comprised of toiletries, household items and gift cards. Jenny also personally crafts goody bags for the children in the program. In 2015, Jenny partnered with local restaurants and businesses to raise $1,000 for charities that seek to eradicate human trafficking, breast cancer fatalities and domestic violence.

The Citizen of the Year nominee goes to an individual who for outstanding service and exceptional voluntary contributions to the community. As a Colleyville resident and  Financial Planner at Aspen Wealth Management, Allen selflessly lends her time and expertise to support various causes, including GRACE, the Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation and the Colleyville Rotary Club, where she helped in raising $2,500 for families in crisis through GRACE.

Compass Christian Church Pastor Drew Sherman is a longtime advocate of GRACE. Compass is an extremely valued partner which facilitates one of our emergency assistance programs on site and goes above and beyond with every endeavor. The GRACE Holiday Food campaign, for instance, brought $7,500 in cash donations and over 10,000 pounds of food to the Food Pantry. This huge endeavor would not be possible if not for the Godly direction and inspiration of Senior Pastor Drew Sherman. Sherman commits to various causes, including Mission Arlington, The Gatehouse, and Serve West Dallas. Their missional outreach includes work in Mexico, Uganda and Thailand, and a domestic mission in Boston, MA.

GRACE Board member John Fletcher was nominated as the Chamber’s Member of the Year for his unmatched involvement in Chamber programs, volunteerism and compassion to help other Chamber members succeed. Fletcher is a model citizen who utilizes his professional abilities to contribute to the community. Not only is John known for his excellent customer service and professionalism, John looks to strengthen the GRACE message and enrich community engagement as part of a branding task force.

The DFW Metroport chapter of the National Charity League is an extraordinary group of mothers and daughters who dedicate countless amounts of volunteer time and resources to their philanthropic charities and non-profit organizations.

The chapter has been a steadfast volunteer group and welcomed part of the GRACE family. Volunteers give of their time in virtually every program, including resale operations, special events, seasonal campaigns and holiday drives.
