Two years ago Grapevine Lake experienced one of the more devastating floods in recent memory. Businesses and parks all around the lake were deeply affected, among those being Big Daddy’s Ship Store.

The City of Grapevine, Chamber of Commerce, and community residents responded with an outpouring of support after the flooding caused considerable damage and extended loss of business.

Big Daddy’s Ship Store prevailed. The lakeside restaurant continues to be a local hub for top-notch burgers, fresh seafood, and live entertainment.

Thanks to owners Matt Armand and Craig Pritchett’s fierce determination to pay it forward, the team has utilized their knack for a good time by hosting a Stock the Food Pantry event, a benefit event that delivered its promise of finger-lickin barbeque and live entertainment.

The benefit event was a tremendous success. On top of the food given on behalf of the GRACE Food Pantry, the restaurant donated event proceeds in the amount of $2,600, and a portion of their summer profits, totaling $7,000 toward GRACE programs!

bigdaddy2Food donations over the summer are particularly timely, as the Food Pantry sees a general decline in donations over the summer months.

The monetary donations allow us to continue GRACE programs, including the Community Clinic, Friends & Family Senior Assistance, Christmas Cottage, Feed Our Kids, and the Clothing Room.

“The community reached out to us and we were so thankful and happy for it, kind of amazed and shocked,” said Armand. “We wanted to return the favor and pay it forward essentially.”

Special thanks to other businesses who partnered with Big Daddy’s in this effort, Brandon Battson at Battson Heat & Air LLC, Target Grapevine, Tom Thumb Grapevine, Grapevine Farmers Market and Sysco Foods.

Patronage is the best way to support a local business that cares about building up our community.
